Steam Carpet Cleaning & Upholstery Cleaning
   Home      FAQ

Can’t I just rent one of those machines and do it myself?
Sure! But, beside the fact that it won’t save you much money our truck mounted hot water extraction system is many times more powerful. In addition, our cleaning solutions are specially formulated to deep clean your carpet and fabrics without leaving a sticky residue.

How do I know my carpet needs cleaning?
We get asked this question everyday and the answer always starts out the same: it depends. It depends on your individual situation in your home such as are there children and pets that track things into the home a lot? Do shoes get removed when people come into your home? Do you eat greasy foods and sugary drinks while sitting on your upholstery?

Lots of factors come into play into how quickly your furnishings look soiled and that is the key. When things start to look soiled that is the time to clean them before they get really bad. The longer things are soiled the more your regular foot traffic (other body parts and furniture) grind the soils deeper into the fibers, making them less able to be removed completely.
Just like a pair of jeans that show wear and color loss in the knee area over time, your carpet, rugs and upholstery will do the same if not cleaned regularly. For some that is 6-18 months or even longer for areas that are not used.

The last thing to consider is that most new carpet warranties require professional cleaning at lest once every 18 months to maintain the warranty.

What about carpet protector, is it really helpful?
Yes is the short answer 3M Scotchgard provides your fabrics with an invisible protective barrier to assist you in removing spots and spills yourself by keeping them from penetrating deep into the fibers as quickly. It also helps to make your regular vacuuming more effective and help the items protected stay clean longer.

How safe are your cleaning and protection methods?
We use only the highest quality, safest cleaning solutions on the market.

What process do you use to clean carpet?
Serrano cleaning is experienced in all methods of cleaning and clean according to the manufacturer recommendations. Most of the carpet cleaning provided is done with the” truck-mounted hot water extraction” method.

Should I have my carpet dry cleaned or steam cleaned?
As mentioned earlier, most major carpet manufacturers recommend truck-mounted hot water extraction as the preferred method. Hot water extraction done properly by a certified trained technician removes more soil and spots than dry cleaning methods.

Does hot water extraction soak the backing of the carpet?
No, although hot water extraction rinses the carpet deep down, moisture does not penetrate the backing of the carpet. With our powerful truck-mounted equipment, your carpet is thoroughly rinsed, but left only damp to the touch.

How long does the carpet take to dry?
The normal drying time is anywhere from 2 to4 hours if used the drimaster and 1 to 2 hours, if used the rotovac 360 2 to 4 hrs and  if is used the regular wand 4 to 6 hrs. Also Depending on weather conditions, room temperature, air flow, and overall conditions this time can vary.

What does it mean to "clean to the standards?"
In 1992, representatives from the carpet manufacturing industry, the carpet cleaning industry, and the federal government all agreed upon a common set of standards for the carpet industry. These standards are now referred to as CRI standards. Serrano Cleaning  Services  offers all of these methods and can select the process that’s right for your needs

It was agreed that each of these cleaning processes should include these common steps:

  • Pre-Vacuum
  • Pre-treat spots, stains and heavily soiled areas
  • Hot water extraction
  • A thorough rinse
  • Furniture moving
  • groom carpets
  • Complete drying within 24 hours

Cleaning your carpet in accordance to these industry standards will help assure that you’ll get a quality cleaning job.
